juxta crucem lacrimosa.
dum pendebat filius.
Her grief-stricken soul,
suffering and anguished,
was pierced by a sword.

Mother of the Only-begotten.

when looking at Christ’s Mother
in such anguish?

she sees Jesus in torment

giving us his spirit.
